Middle Back
Pain: Sudden Injuries and Traumas
Back pain is not
uncommon. In fact, more than 80% of American
adults will experience back pain at some point during their lives. There are different types of back pain that can affect
you. There is middle back pain which is very
commonly caused by strained muscles and even strained ligaments. It is common to experience middle back pain when you have
been exercising strenuously or if you have been lifting something heavy. In some cases middle back pain is also caused by problems
with the spine and other medical problems.
Persistent Middle Back Pain Could Be Serious
Many people experience middle
back pain that lasts a few days, but if the middle back pain persists for more than a few days you might want to
talk to your doctor about your symptoms and your pain. You need to not just treat the symptom, but find out what is
causing it. If you are suffering from middle back
pain and you don’t get any relief from at home remedies, it is time to see the doctor.
You should understand that the
middle back is very strong and stable so this is generally not an area of the back that is prone to hernias,
stenosis, or stability of the spine.
Unfortunately, because the middle back is so strong and stable, the problems often go undiagnosed even when
using MRI or CT scans.
While middle back pain is
usually hard to diagnose and problems are usually caused by injuries or traumas, those who have bad posture can
also suffer from middle back problems. Many people
who spend hours in front of a computer will suffer from middle back pain but this should go away relatively
quickly when stretching is done and proper posture is adhered to. The most common causes of middle back pain are muscular
irritation and joint dysfunction, which can be relieved with anti-inflammatory medications.
Middle back pain is very
commonly experienced by school aged children. This
is caused by the weight of their back packs or book bags. This pain usually lets up when the bag is taken off of the
body. While this is common, if the pain does not
subside after removing the back pack the child or individual should seek professional help
immediately.
